Qatami Alqatami, a veteran Q80 Golfer, won the 2006 Kuwait National golf Championship this past weekend after completing the final two rounds of the Q8 Tour with a gross score of 79,78
This year’s championship has been exclusively played at the new all grass Sahara Golf and Country Club golf course.
Q80 National Team players were contesting the title in the ‘gross’ category, all within a few strokes of each other, But it was Qatami who managed to deal best with the tricky windy conditions on Thursday & Friday to finish on top with an aggregate year end score of 317. Qatami's win is an inspiration to young Q80 golfers and a testimony that golf is a game of all ages.
In second place in the 'gross’ category was Bader Altrkait with an aggregate score of 321. 3rd place was won by the 2003 Q8Tour champion Mazin Alansari with a score of 322. Bader Yasin came 4th with a score of 327
In the 'Net' score category, Majd Alansari, a Tour's Rookie, finished first with a year end aggregate net score of 272. Teenager Yousef Alqatami came in second with a promising year end aggregate net of 280.
Two other Golfers who are worth mentioning are Ahmed Almortaji & Talal Alothman. They both played very well in their first year on tour, and we look forward to having them back next year.
